Acomplete illustrated description of theboosters mechanical features was pub-lished in Canadian Railway and Marine the latest specialties and refinements ap-plied to locomotives. The tests were conducted with Cana-dian National Rys. dynamometer car 84,the use of which was extended to theT. & for the occasion. The firsttest was made on May 9, with mikadolocomotive 150, which was given a trainout of North Bay consisting of 21 load-ed freight cars, the dynamometer car,T. & official cars Temagami and. As statedpreviously, boosters have been appliedon one mikado and four Pacific type lo-comotives on the T. & Ry. Themikado to which the booster is appliedwas described and illustrated in Cana-dian Railway and Marine World for May,pg. 252. This locomotive has a tractivepower of 45,500 lb, without booster,weight on drivers 197,000 lb., cylinders25 x 30 in., and is thoroughly modern indesign. Details and an illustration of Whitney, and a caboose. The actual ton-nage of this train was 1,401 tons, 756contents and 645 tare, the adjusted ton-nage with the T. & allowance be-ing 1,501.
