A group of Duke of Edinburgh award outward bound candidates head for hills in the Forest of Bowland for a weekend camp on what is expected to be the hottest day of the year. The various routes will take them as far as 7km to learn the art of route planning – exploring the contours of the map and establishing walking speeds and pinpointing a 6 figure bearing.
