The outer edges of the elytra are flattened,highly polished, and fur-nished with large and deeppunctures. The name Homalosomasignifies similar bodied,and is given to the insectbecause its whole body isentirely black, without anyadmixture of colour, suchas a green or coppery edgeto the elytra. The specific name Vigorsii is of course givenin honour of the well-known zoologist. The insect is a nativeof New Fig. 24.—Homalosoma Vigorsii.(Black.)
