Thermic disturbances, especially high temperature, is i)rob- ably a cause of cloudy swelling. Halliburton has demonstrated that certain high temperatures produce turbidity or granular degeneration of cells. From experimental evidence it is appar- ent that different groups of the albumins of the cell protoplasm are separated (coagulated) at difTerent temperatures. The high- er the temperature the more fixed the coagula and the more difficult the)' are of solution. From the present known facts, although the chemistry is not determined, it is evident that high. ^?^-^/^^. â ^'^m ft\ -4; *C»*^^^*>.g' ' .J^f 'f^l^^: Fir. 111.âCloudy Swelling, showing granular degeneration uf kidney cells.
