An etched German back plate for a suit of armour,circa 1580,some of the etching done later. Back plate made in one piece with shaped shoulder blades,and turned under and corded rims. Embossed decorative lines with a cruciform mark in the region of the lower back. Fine original black etching of elaborate martial trophies along the edges. Additional etchings showing two Landsknechts added during the Historismus period. Height 37 cm.
