'Manhattan Bridge. A double-deck suspension bridge, constructed 1901 to 1909, from the Bowery at Canal Street to Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn. Steel towers are 336 feet high, resting on masonry pedestals, which are 92 feet below water line. The four cables weigh 6,300 tons.
