Against Wagners brilliant solo use of theTrombones in the Tannhduser Overture and the Prelude to Act III. ofLohengrin, and against Schuberts wonderful solo-passage for threeTrombones in unison (C major Symphony), one must set the dread-ful Tuba Mirum of Mozart.
