The plant is pretty tall and the flower fine, 10 Original Chinese, from China ; new and singular; plant tall and flowers very large, differing materially from other Asters ; mixed colors, 25Six separate colors — red rose, violet, flax-grey, flesh color, and white; each color, 25 BALSAM (Impatiens), Nat. Ord. DOUBLE BALSAM. One of the most popular and the most beautiful of our half-hardy annuals, but a richsoil and good culture is needed to bring it to perfection. With good care, very few flowerswill afford more satisfaction. Sow in a frame or in a sheltered bed in the garden in thespring, as soon as the weather is rather warm. Transplant when the second leaves havemade a little growth. Set the plants ten or twelve inches apart, and when the sidebranches appear, pinch off all but three or four, and pinch out the center shoot. Thoseleft will then grow very strong, and the flowers will not be concealed by the foliage, as is AND GUIDE TO THE FLOWER GARDEN. 21 BALSAM — Coiitiu ued.
