Human head, skull and spine. The skull consists of the cranium, which protects the brain, and the facial bones. The facial bones include the mandible and the maxilla, the jaw bones that contain the teeth. The facial bones include the bones around the eyes (the orbits of the eyes) and the air-filled bones that contain the paranasal sinuses and the nasal cavity (centre). The angiography (use of a contrast medium to highlight blood vessels) shows the vertebral arteries running along and through the vertebrae of the neck.
