Every loving fancier of the Wyandotte prefers the openlacing, as shown on the hen Fashion, presented on page 50(See also her feathers in Plate III.) This hen had no moss-ing and was full laced all over. Mr. Sewells sketch of heris quite good. Her shape was not the best. Her tail shouldbe carried a little higher, her cushion should be more abun-dant, and the breast should be more full. Her comb isstraight, where it should curve with shape of head. Other-wise I like her. The plumage of this grand hen is shown in Plate 3 a. ^ o It_o?3 s t?i u. ?SI THE WYANDOTTES. 53 These feathers were plucked when she was two years engraver has reduced the size of the feathers about one-third. Feather No. 1 is a hackle, nearly perfect. No. 2 is takenfrom the breast and is good enough. Nos. 3 and 4 are fromthe wing. These are excellent, though at the end of featherNo. 4 you will note it does not carry the shape of the centeras well as does No. 3, it is a little too pointed. No. 5 is aback feather taken from between the shoulders. This isgood. No. 6 is a cushion feather. In lacing, shape of featherand center I call No. G perfect. No. 7 is a cushion or lessertail covert. Note how perfeol this center is. It may beseen that this center is perfectly clear. .\lso note the deep,uniform under-color shown in all these sections.
