The matter of having associated members was submitted during this year and the necessary amendments adopted. At the annual meeting in 1897 Wil- liam K. Harris was elected president; John Westcott, vice-president; Thomas Cartledge, treasurer, and Edwin Lons- dale, secretarj'. The following Janu- ary the treasurer resigned, J. W. Col- flesh being elected. A special meeting was held May 18, 1898, to take action on the death of Thomas Cartledge, who had been trensurer for over twelve years, and at the next meet- ing President Harris read a eulogy on the life of the late treasurer. The same board of officers was re-elected in 1898, 1899, 1900 and 1901. In Janu- ary, 1898, the American Carnation So- ciety was entertained. In 1902 the officers elected were John Westcott, president; David Rust, vice-president, uith no change in the secretary and treasure!', and were reelected in 19(»:} and 1904. The American Rose Society held their convention and ex- hibition in Philadelphia in March, 19t)3, and were entertained by the club, and in June the club was invited by Samuel C. Moon to visit his nur- sery at Morrisville, Pa., which was accepted. The officers elected in 1905 were Thomas B. Meehan, president;
