Tripp, Coldwater. JOHN ALLEN was born April 29, 1801, at Sudbury, Vt. He lived withhis parents until he was twenty-one years of age. Whenhe was twenty-two he married Miranda Kelsey, who diedin 1825, leaving two children,—John E., who is a farmer in Coldwater, and Miranda C, who married Wallace She died in 1851. Mr. Allen was married, in1826, to Ester Blackmer, of Brandon, Vt., with whom helived for nearly forty years. She departed this life March25, 1866. BIr. Allen was married, Dec. 3, 1866, to Phetteplace, formerly Miss Jackson, of Otsego,N. Y., she and her former husband having emigrated toColdwater in 1836, where he died in 1S63. In 1832, Mr. Allen left his native town, and moved toOrleans Co., N. Y., where he purchased a farm and re-mained eleven years, when he sold out and came to Cold-water with his wife and ten children, arriving here , 1843, and purchased one hundred acres of land, whichincluded the present site of the Michigan
