Thenotification of such withdrawal had been delivered toGovernor Johnson in person by a member of the Committee at eleven oclock. The demandnow made for the surrender of the jail was at tenminutes past twelve. The governor was advised byhis friends, spies upon the Committee, of the fact thatCasey was to be removed an hour before he was taken.
