Gibi village Gurage, Ethiopia, October 2013 Maraganesh Waldemikel in her enset field. She is 60, has four daughters and five sons. “The life here is hard, it’s hand to mouth. We depend on enset products – we make rope from the fiber, we also have some animals. We need modern equipment to process the enset, it’s very labour intensive. "The mountain paths are hard for me now I’m getting older but if we had a road and electricity I’d be happy to stay here, otherwise I’d like to move to Butajera”. Her husband is a trader and lives part time in Jijega Town, Somalia, Ethiopia
