Chansu Folk Dance Group folk ensemble from Ankara, Turkey, performing at 26th Folkart International CIOFF Folklore Festival, folklore sub-festival of Festival Lent, one of the largest outdoor festivals in Europe. Festival Lent, Maribor, Slovenia, June 28, 2014. The Chansu Folk Dance Group was founded in 2003 with the aim of preserving and grooming the arts of performing Turkish dances and songs. The young members want to preserve the cultural values and encourage others to love the folk traditions. The group focuses on the northern Black sea region where you can find the dance called “horon”. This is a very fast traditional dance that is performed in the open, usually during special occasions, celebrations or weddings. In the past ten years the folk group has received many awards at national and international competitions.
