Autumn scene looking across the Lake of the Isles toward the 1925 Lake of the Isles Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The church was designed by the Minneapolis architectural firm Hewitt & Brown. The cornerstone from the old Lowry Hill Church was laid in the new foundation on November 8, 1925, by Dr. Lotus Coffman, President of the University of Minnesota. Dr. John Walker Powell (an instructor at the University of Minnesota) was the pastor from 1928 to 1931. During Dr. Powell’s ministry the church building was erected on the foundation, and pulpit, pews, pipe-organ and other necessary furnishings were installed.
