Remedies : (1) The lime sulphur spray. This must be very carefully put on as thescales for the most part in fall, winter, and spring, are to be found on thelower side of the branches. (2) Kerosene emulsion, applied when the tree is dormant, preferablyas soon as the leaves fall in autumn. Dilute the stock emulsion with fourparts of water. (3) Kerosene emulsion, flour kerosene, or whale-oil soap at ordinarystrength applied as soon as eggs have hatched, which must be determinedbv actual observation each Fig. 24.
