The Tide of Residences has manifested this Saturday, September 26, to demand the immediate approval of a “residency law”. The demonstration began at 12:00 hours and has elapsed between the headquarters of the Community of Madrid, in Puerta del Sol, and the Ministry of Health, located at number 18 Paseo del Prado in the capital. Faced with the serious situation that these establishments for the elderly are going through, in which more than 20,000 people have already died in Spain as a result of COVID-19 or with compatible symptoms ”, the Tide of Residences demands, among other things, the public management of all residences owned by the regional administrations. Among the "reasons and demands" that have given life to the call for this Saturday are "the reversal of the privatizations that have occurred in recent years in the field of residences and public health, the claim of decent conditions not only for the users but also for the workers of these centers for the elderly and a law on state-level residences that adequately regulates the sector in order to protect the elderly in Spain.
