HAUSEN (deceased) wasborn in Lincoln County, Me., August 25, 1816,son of Charles and Jane (Hilton) Hausen. Mrs. Charles Hausen were also natives ofthe Pine Tree State and came to Lee CountyIn. 1840. where the former died in 1859 and thelatter in 1S7S. William H. Hausen was theoldest in a family of eleven children, and, ac-companied by his brother, Harrison west in 1838, arriving in Lee County inOctober of the same year. Here they pur-chased a claim of 960 acres of land, and thefirst improvements made in that section of thecountry were upon the Hausen homestead inSection 2, China Township. In October, 1850,Mr. Hausen married Mrs. Julia Felker, whodied Feb. 2, 1895. and on March 15. 1900. hemarried his second wife. Miss Ida E. Nichols,daughter of Andrew J. and Mary A.
