Green Poppy Seed Pod, Papaver, ripening in late Summer

Green poppy pod containing tiny kidney shaped black poppy seeds that will be dispersed from their pods by the wind when the seeds are ripe. As the seed pod drys out and ripens seed dispersal openings appear around the cap of the capsule. As the pods bend in the wind the seeds are shaken out like a salt dispenser.
