Braithwaite in "British Moss Flora," p. 119, refers to the latter form when he says "capsule ; He adds "with a swollen ; This is very short in the Swedish plant and hardly perceptible in the plant under consideration. Among the discrepancies in the description two points are worthy of record. Limpricht in "Laubmoose p. 467," says "the spores are 24-32/i, yellowish-green, delicately wrinkled'' our own plant has the spores only 20-24//, yellowish-brown (quite ripe) and sparingly, but distinctly, minutely papillose.
