Others stated that the lime, salt and sulphur applica- tion damaged the trees and did not kill the scale on apple and pear trees. Mr. Turner said that he sprayed his pear trees in pots with the latter solution and there was no scale left. Mr. Hale sprayed his trees with crude oil (insecticide oil) and his trees are clean now. But the mem- bers came to the conclusion that no orchard can be kept clean while the next orchard is neglected, and that the matter of compulsory spraying should be agi- tated.
