Exeter Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) has been operational since July 2014. The facility uses up to 60,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste from households across Exeter, East Devon and Teignbridge to create valuable green energy. Exeter ERF, a £45 million investment is a partnership between Devon County Council and Viridor who have appointed an operations and management contractor, Cyclerval to operate and maintain the plant until 2019. The facility is the first of its kind in Devon producing electricity; enough to supply around 5,000 homes.
