Statue to fray Junipero Serra and JuaneÒo in the Saint Francis the Assisi plaza. Junipero Serra was a Spanish Franciscan friar who founded a mission in Baja California and the first nine of 21 Spanish missions in California. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1988.
