He introduced a resolution, which was adopted, pro-viding for the appointment of a select committee to investigatecharges of frauds and peculations in the paymaster-generals office,it having aj^peared that a large number of claims had been paid to apretended agent for colored soldiers of New Orleans upon papersmade out in Washington, and never seen nor signed by the soldierswhose claims they purported to be. 294.
