Pictures of event preceding 2014 Great North Run on Tyneside, to celebrate the millionth finisher in the history of the race
The Great North Run on Tyneside is a half marathon course that has been run every year since 1981, and in 2014 it is expected that the 1,000,000th finisher will complete the race from the 56,000 entrants. To mark the occasion there were several celebratory events held at the time of the race, with an illuminated river pageant taking place two prior to the race, during which the iconic Tyneside bridges were illuminated with a spectacular light show.
