Magdalen is one of the largest and oldest of the Oxford University Colleges. It stands next to the River Cherwell and has within its grounds a deer park and Addison's Walk. This is the College's neoclassical New Building, constructed in 1733. Compared with the medieval cloisters, quadrangle and chapel of the rest of this ancient college, it is, indeed, a relatively new construction.
