The images are of various Tirolean Schuetzen Militia Companies that gathered and assembled in the small village of Navis in the Navistal valley, a branch valley off the main Wipptal valley that leads to the Brenner pass into Italy. The Schuetzen Militia are representative of the various Tirolean valleys of the old north and south Tirol that rose-up in the 1800's to fight against Napoleon's French army and the occupying Bavarian army. The annual gathering of Schuetzen Battalions varies each year with the village of Navis being chosen for this event.
