Illustration of the transient receptor potential subfamily C, member 6 (TRPC6) receptor. TRPC6 is a transmembrane protein that transports cations (positively charged ions) into a cell. It is nonselective, but will transport calcium ions in preference to other cations. It is found throughout the body and regulates many physiological processes such as cell growth, mechanosensation and muscle contraction.
