In Ptuj, Slovenia, each year before Shrove Wednesday, masked characters from several European countries meet to celebrate and to show rich cultural traditions. For Ptuj and surrounding villages, Kurent is the most characteristic mask. It is symbol of pagan Slavic god of hedonism.
