A Pappenheim rapier, Southern Germany or Northern Italy, circa 1620. Stout, ridged blade with a lenticular section of approximately 6 cm length at the forte. The ricasso with old leather covering. Iron, ridged bar hilt with finely pierced double shell-guard. The grip retaining its original (slightly defect) iron wire winding and Turk's heads. Octagonal pear-shaped pommel.
