Johanna le Gillon, Wife of Hieronymus van Beverningk by Jan de Baen (1633-1702) oil on canvas, 1670. The portraits of Johanna le Gillon and her husband are still in their original frames. These are carved in lime wood, with gilt high relief, and entirely symmetrical to each other. In the corners are pairs of putti gathering roses. The stiles and rails are ornamented with vines, festooned and scrolls of oak, laurel and acanthus. The motto in the cartouche at the bottom translates as: 'A contented heart is a great good'.
