DUNN, Charles Oscar, Bishop ofCollege Ward, Cache county, Utah, isthe son of Simeon A. Dunn and HarrietA. Silver, and was born Oct. 13, 1855,in the old fort in Brigham City, BoxElder county, Utah. His mother diedJan. 1. 1857, which left the whole careof the family upon his father. Charleswas baptized in 1863 by Elder Lars ; and he was ordained an Elderby Wm. L. Watkins. He labored forseveral years as a Sabbath schoolteacher and was chosen first assistantsuperintendent to Charles Kelley in theFourth Ward (Brigham City) Sundayschool, Nov. 2, 1880. Later, he pre-sided over the Ward Y. M. M. I. A.,and also acted as a Ward teacher. 1876, he married Letitia Smith,. daughter of Samuel and Janette Smith,by whom he has had five children. In1882 he was called on a mission to , to receive instructions in Tem-ple ordinance work, together with hiswife. Early in 1883 he removed to Mill-ville. Cliche county, where he laboredas Ward teacher, Sabbath school teach-er, president of an Elders quorum,president of the Y. M. M. I. A., 24, 1883, he married Martha , daughter of John and ElizaWelch, by whom he has had six chil-dren. Together with his wife, he wascalled to labor in the Logan Temple,May 18, 1884. They commenced theirwork there Aug. 21, 1884, and con-tinued till the following March (1885).when thev were released. Oct. 7. 1887, 430 LATTER-DAY SAINT Elder Dunn was arrested on the chargeof unlawful cohabitation, and on , following, he was sentenced tosix months
