According to estimates of the cost andprogress department of the Golden GateBridge and Highway District approxi-mately 185,000 barrels of cement producedin the Redwood City plant of the Pacific are to be completed within the shortestpossible space of time so that actual workupon the fender may be commenced. This fender ultimately will act as a cof-ferdam to provide an area of still water forcaisson operations at the pier site. Thesteel caisson already has been launched atthe Moore Drydock companys plant inOakland estuary and a wooden cofferdam.
