All the American Westinghouse works were represented at Washingtonby exhibitions of these products, and Westinghouse Church Kerr & Company, engineers,whose activities are directed wholly toward the investigation, design and construction ofpower, industrial and transportation properties, was represented by large photographicillustrations and drawings of work done. The Westinghouse Air BrakeCompany, organized in 1869, was the first of the Westing-house companies, and had earned a high reputation forWestinghouse products around the world long before theappearance of the first Westinghouse engine or generator. Itsmain works at Wilmerding, Pennsylvania, fifteen miles eastof the Pittsburg Union Station, have 3000 employees anda capacity of 1000 brake sets a day.
