Liverpool, UK 25th May, 2013. HMS Fort Rosalie, Replenishment Ship Royal Fleet Auxiliary Service, in Cammell Laird Ship repairers & Shipbuilders Ltd open to the public on the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic (BOA 70) commemoration and events centred around Liverpool. The Battle of the Atlantic was the longest continuous military campaign in World War 2, at its height from mid-1940 through to the end of 1943.

Cammell Laird shipyard in Birkenhead is acknowledged as being a key part of Britain's war effort in WWII. The shipyard is still a major repairer of vessels and for the first time in 20 years it is building ships again. It may never produce the numbers it did during the war but, as Merseyside celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Battle Of The Atlantic, the contribution the shipyard made to the survival of Britain in its darkest hours will never be forgotten.
