At other times anisolated mass of water rose and was broken up bythe wind in blinding spray which completely hidthe Hostel and adjoining houses from view. Be-tween eight and nine oclock, when the tide was atits height, a tremendous sea struck the high electriclamps and three were knocked out, leaving the endof the Terrace in darkness.
