To say thebroad well-paved side-paths on both sides of the streets werethe best feature of the town is, perhaps, the highest complimenta casual visitor can pay its inhabitants. The return journey by diligence to Mexico City was worsethan the going out, and we had a heavy thunderstorm, on thehighest part of the mountain-pass, which drenched us outsidepassengers to the skin, to say nothing of the terror we sufferedfrom lightning.
