Fourth block: Change as before, purling where knitted plain, andknitting plain where purled, without BARBOURS PRIZE NEEDLE: WORK Turkish Slippers. Fifth and sixth blocks: Widen on each end of needle, everyother time across. Seventh block: Knit without widening. Continue in this way until you have 21 sts, then k 2 blocks with-out widening until you have 39 sts. Knit 2 blocks without widen-ing, knit 18 sts and take off, bind off 3 sts on instep, and knit 18sts for other side. Knit 32 blocks, then take up sts on other sideand knit 32 blocks, joining at back of heel. Work a crescent andstars on the toe, with the size 8 floss, and a row of stars around theupper edge of the slipper. Mount on pointed or Turkish soles,which may be cut from heavy leather if they cannot be obtained atyour shoe-store, in which case it is a good plan to moisten the soleand bend it upward, letting it dry in this position.
