Pluto and its moons. Computer artwork of Pluto (centre right) and its largest moon Charon (upper centre), seen from the surface of S/2005 P1, one of Pluto's two smaller moons. The other small moon is called S/2005 P2, and is seen passing in front of Pluto. These two small moons were discovered in May 2005. Pluto and Charon orbit some 19,100 kilometres from each other, and are so similar in mass that they orbit a point between them, rather than inside Pluto. P1 and P2 orbit some 65,000km and 50,000km respectively from this point.
