A northeast slope is best for any kind of fruit. Comparatively level ground is best for strawberries. Any heavy soil will produce the largest crops and laigest berries, but sandy soils produce the firmest berries of best flavor. Plowing for strawberries should be done in the fall. Plow eight to ten inches deep, and subsoil as deep if your subsoil is very hard. Early in the spring as soon as dry enough, harrow until thoroughly pulverized and ground is well packed.
