Ricky Pijamini, grandson of the man who carved the memorial statue at Grise Fjord on Ellesmere Island

Ricky Pijamini, grandson of the man who carved the memorial statue at Grise Fjord on Ellesmere Island, a community of mostly Inuit people on Ellsmere Island, Nunavut, Canada. This is the northernmost community in Canada. The statue was carved to commemorate the controversial resettlement of Inuit people here in the 1950s to help establish Canada's claim to the arctic. The families were left with few resources and lived for many years in extreme hardship. Today there are 140 people, telephone, internet and many comforts of modern life but the local families do not want the world to forget the history. Andaluk was a child when his family became one of the first people resettled here.
