Thousands of medical professionals from across Poland gathered in Warsaw's old city square on September 24, 2016, for a protest aiming to pressure the Polish government to spend more on Poland's healthcare system. Doctors, dentists, nurses, midwives, paramedics, physiotherapists, and laboratory diagnosticians all joined together to demand that the Polish government, currently ruled by the right-wing Law and Justice Party, PiS, spend the percent of the country's GDP on healthcare. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that percent is the absolute minimum any country can spend on healthcare costs, which ensure safety and health for all citizens, including its healthcare providers.
