Highly esteemed f )r fertilizing purposes; of nutritious quality, and eaten greedily by all stock. While it does best on lime soil, it will ali-o do well on r^d clay hills, where lied Clover will fail. Con- sidered very profitable as a hay crop. Weighs 20 lbs to bushel. Red Clover {Trifolium Pratense)—This is the leading variety of Clover, and is more cultivated for hay pasture and as an enricher of the soil than any other. I^ is best adapted to stifif soils, but doeg •well on any land ri' h enough to sustain it. It is perennial. Under favorable conditions it is an abundant yielder of hay, which should be cut when in full bloom. It should not be cut more th>in twice, that seed might mature and drop, thus keeping up a good stand. It is properly claimed that this Clover will do more to enrich im- poverished lands, and with less expense, than any other plant.
