Lance Cpl. Gordon Rogers moves supplies on the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) during a vertical replenishment with the Military Sealift Command dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Matthew Perry (T-AKE 9) in the Pacific Ocean on April 3, 2011. The Essex, with the embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating off the coast of Kesennuma in northeastern Japan, in support of Operation Tomodachi.
