A Cable car taking tourists down from the Montenvers Railway station onto the Mer De Glace. the railway was built in Victorian times to take tourists up to the glacier, it has subsequently thinned 150 meters since 1820, and retreated by 2300 Metres. In order to access the glacier, a cable car has had to be built to reach the ever shrinking glacier.
