Aperture Discussion The specimen bears a strong resemblance to the Californian Ancylocerasajax, but lacks the inflated body chamber and the very strong tuberculationon the crozier. Ancyloceras thomeli Murphy (1975: 24, pi. 3 (figs 1, 5), pi. 11 (figs 1-2)) alsodiners on account of the presence of an inflated body chamber. In A. {Ad.) renauxianum dOrbigny (1842: 499, pi. 123) non-tuberculateintermediaries occur between the major costae in the crozier. A. {Ad.) ewaldiDames (1880: 690, pi. 25, pi. 26 (fig. 1)) has stouter ribbing on the shaft, andmore closely spaced ribs on the crozier.
