In August, 1882, Rev. W. W. Criley began a five-year pas-torate, closing his ministry to the congregation in 1887. The pastorate of Rev. Joseph F. Hartman began January 1,1888. and continued twelve years. During this time the towerof the church was completed and the present parsonage pipe organ was put into the church, the seating made circu-lar, and an extension built to the KEY. JOSEPH FRANKLIN HARTMAN REV. WILLIAM W. CRILEY, Rev. A. E. Wagner began his pastorate in February, church was beautifully frescoed, and electric lighting andsteam heating were installed during this pastorate. He resignedthe pastorate in September, 1913. A statistical study of the years of these pastorates would showa steady increase in membership and in congregational activitiesthat more than demonstrates the wisdom of the three men whosaw the need of another organization of Lutherans in the city. The present pastor took up the work of the pastorate Octo-ber i, 1914, the congregation having been without a pastor forthirteen months, the longest period without a pastor in itshistory. 387 NORTHEAST CONFERENCE The property adjoining the church property was purchasedfrom the Lotz Brothers in 1915, thus making possible suchenlargement of the work as the future may call for.
