The Grey Squirrel, (Sciurus carolinensis), is a scatter hoarder, it hoards food in numerous small caches. It has been estimated that each Squirrel makes several thousand caches each season. the Grey Squirrel has a very accurate spatial memory for the locations of these caches, they do not hibernate. Their habitat is mature dense woodlands.
