NORFOLK, Va. (May 25, 2023) The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) sits pierside on Naval Station Norfolk after six years in Huntington-Ingalls Newport News shipyard. George Washington was underway after successfully completing its mid-life refueling and complex overhaul and sea trials, a comprehensive test of many of the ship's key systems and technologies.
